Water-soluble or water-dispersible polyaspartic acid derivatives their preparation and their use

A water-soluble or water-dispersible polyaspartic acid on the basis of the units shown in the diagrammatic formula I ##STR7## where the sequence of the units is arbitrary, the sum of x+y1+y2+z is 100, and

• x is 30-94.9,
• y1 is 0.1-50,
• y2 is 5-50,
• z is 0-30,
• A is at least one primary or secondary non-aromatic amine,
• B is at least one amine having a tertiary amino group, and
• C is a radical derived from an amine of type A by elimination of an amine hydrogen,
• or a carboxylic acid salt or polycarboxylic acid salt or quarternization product thereof.
