Abstract
Water to be utilized is reacted with soda ash and lime to produce a less corrosive and foulant water. Reaction sludges are fed to a desulfurization unit, where SO.sub.x, NO.sub.x and CO.sub.2 abatement occurs; other industrial waste sludges and/or waters and/or gases can also be utilized in such connection. FIG. 1 is one of the possible process schemes of present invention.

A water treatment process for reducing corrosion, scale, fouling and biofouling by a water source, comprising:
- filtering water from a water source selected from the group consisting of seawater, saline water and brackish water;
- adding a first compound selected from a group consisting of Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3 and NaHCO.sub.3 to the filtered water to thereby form a sludge in said water;

- filtering the water;
- wherein a dosage of the first compound is in a range from 1 to 10,000 ppm, and a dosage of the second compound is in a range from 1 to 3000 ppm,
- wherein the ratio of the first compound to the second compound is greater than or equal to 1, and
- wherein the dosage of said optional member is in the range of 0.000001 to 1 ppm.
A treatment process for reducing corrosion, scale, fouling and biofouling by a water source, comprising:
- filtering water from a water source selected from the group consisting of well water, river water, lake water, and industrial waste water;
- adding a first compound selected from the group consisting of Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3 and NaHCO.sub.3 to the water to thereby form a sludge in said water;
- adding a second compound selected from the group consisting of lime and NaOH to the water;
- adding at least one optional member selected from the group consisting of:
- a water soluble polymer;
- a water soluble phosphonate;
- a water soluble biocide;

- a water soluble antifoam;
- a tannin;
- a lignosulfonate;
- an organic carboxylic acid;
- a polymeric diol;
- a polyhydroxy compound;
- and a phosphate ester, to the water after the first filtering step to aid in reducing corrosion scale and biofouling in said water;
- separating the sludge and water;
- and
- filtering the water;
- wherein the dosage of the first compound is in the range from 1 to 10,000 ppm, and the dosage of the second compound is in the range from 1 to 3000 ppm,
- wherein the ratio of the first compound to the second compound is 0.2 to 5;
- and
- wherein the dosage of said optional member is in the range of 0.000001 to 1 ppm.
A treatment process, comprising:
- adding at least one first compound selected from the group consisting of Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3 and NaHCO.sub.3, and at least one second compound selected from the group consisting of lime and NaOH to water source, to thereby form a sludge, and optionally adding at least one member selected from the group consisting of:
- a water soluble polymer;
- a water soluble phosphonate;
- a water soluble biocide;
- a water soluble biodispersant;
- a water soluble antifoam;
- a tannin;
- a lignosulfonate;
- an organic carboxylic acid;
- a polymeric diol;
- a polyhydroxy compound;
- and a phosphate ester, to the water, wherein the first compound dosage is in the range from 1 to 10,000 ppm, and the second compound dosage is in the range from 1 to 3000 ppm, wherein the water source is seawater, saline water, brackish water, well water, river water, lake water, or industrial waste water;
- separating the sludge and water;
- feeding the sludge to an adsorption zone of a scrubber;
- and
- contacting within the scrubber the sludge with a waste gas containing at least one of the following:
- SO.sub.x, NO.sub.x, or CO.sub.2 to purify the waste gas.
A process for treating wastes comprising the steps of:
- producing a waste sludge containing calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide;
