Abstract
The present invention relates to a stationary boat lift comprised of a housing in which a boat is able to enter and exit with little difficulty. The boat lift allows a boat to bypass various barriers in a efficient and safe manner by vertically lifting the boat out of one body of water, translating the boat horizontally over a desired barrier, and then vertically lowering the boat into a second body of water.
Claims15
A boat lift apparatus comprising:
- a frame-like housing formed by a plurality of vertical support beams fixedly attached to a plurality of horizontal support beams, wherein said vertical support beams are attached to the sides of a channel created between two bodies of water, said channel containing therein a dividing barrier to prevent intermingling of said bodies of water;
- a hoist means having a lift frame moveably attached to said housing, said lift frame having a first transverse end and a second transverse end opposite said first transverse end, said hoist means further comprising a pair of load distribution supports attached to said lift frame, wherein one of said supports is attached to said lift frame at a first lateral side of said lift frame and the other of said supports is attached at a second lateral side of said lift frame opposite of said first lateral side, said supports having a first support end and a second support end opposite said first end, said supports having means for attaching a cradle-like carrying means to said supports;
- a means for raising and lowering said load distribution supports;
- a means for moving said lift frame from a first end of said frame-like housing to a second end of said frame-like housing;
- and,
- a means for distributing electric power to said lift frame moving means and said load distribution support raising and lowering means.
