Abstract
An optical device capable of absorbing ultraviolet radiation while providing high transmission throughout the visible wavelength region. The device which combines UV blocking glass and solarization resistant glass is resistant to solarization when exposed to intense UV emissions; and at the same time, sharply cutting-off transmission at about 400 nm.

An optical device capable of absorbing ultraviolet radiation at wavelengths in the 400 nm region, while providing high transmission throughout the visible region, said optical device comprising a UV cut-off glass, and a solarization (or darkening) resistant glass.
A method of providing solarization resistance in a sharp UV transmission cut-off glass by protecting the UV cut-off glass using a solarization resistant glass.
