Abstract
Protein aggregates obtained by a process comprising culturing a host cell that expresses a desired protein in a medium comprising an effective amount of Cu.sup.++ and wherein the desired protein forms inclusion bodies in the host cell.
Claims6
A protein aggregate containing Cu.sup.++ ions obtained by the process comprising:
- (a) providing a host cell that expresses said desired protein;
- (b) culturing said host cell in a medium comprising an effective amount of Cu++ wherein said desired protein is expressed as an inclusion body;
- (c) disrupting said host cell to produce a cell lysate having a soluble fraction and an insoluble fraction;
- and
- (d) separating said soluble fraction from said insoluble fraction, wherein said insoluble fraction comprises the protein aggregate.
