Apparatus for extraction of IR from illumination for check processor

Apparatus for imaging documents in a document processing system, this apparatus involving:

• means for transporting the documents at high speed past at least one image-lift site;
• means for illuminating, scanning and imaging each document at said sites with illumination from light-source means along a beam-path to capture an image thereof at associated camera means;
• light-guide means disposed along said beam path between said light-source means and said sites and between said sites and said camera means;
• energy-shaping means provided for each said site to channel the imaging illumination along said beam path and also to adapt the images of each document to said camera means;
• and heat-dissipation means disposed along said beam path for extracting IR energy therefrom and dissipating it so as to thereby shield the said sites and energy-shaping means from adverse IR effects;
• this heat-dissipation means comprising infra-red extraction means arranged and adapted to remove at least a substantial part of the infra-red energy projected along said beam-path and dissipate it.

An arrangement for processing documents in a document processing system, this arrangement including:

• means for transporting the documents at high speed unidirectionally and without pause along a prescribed transport path past at least on image-lift site;
• means for scanning and imaging at least one document face at said sites with illumination from light-source means;
• light-guide means disposed along a beam-path between said light-source means and said sites, and including related energy-shaping gate means for said sites, each said guide means arranged to channel the imaging illumination energy;
• and heat-dissipation means disposed along said beam-path and acting to extract heat energy therefrom and dissipate it so as to thereby shield the said guide means and said sites from adverse heat effects.

Apparatus for imaging items, this apparatus including at least one image-lift site;

• means for illuminating, scanning and imaging each item at said site, with illumination from light-source means directed along a beam-path to capture an image thereof at associated camera means;
• light-guide means disposed along said beam path between said light-source means and said sites and between said sites and said camera means;
• energy-shaping means provided for each said site to channel the imaging illumination along said beam path and also to adapt the images of each item to said camera means;
• and heat-extraction means disposed along said beam path for extracting heat energy therefrom and dissipating it so as to thereby shield the said sites and said energy-shaping means from adverse heat effects;
• this heat-extraction means comprising heat dissipation means arranged and adapted to dissipate at least a substantial part of the heat energy projected along said beam-path.
