Abstract
A method of fluorinating a heterocyclic organic compound comprises the step of reacting a heterocyclic compound with elemental fluorine in the presence of another halogen. The reaction may be conducted in the presence of a base.
Claims16
A method of preparing a heterocyclic organic compound having at least one fluorine substitute in the heterocyclic ring, the method comprising reacting a heterocyclic compound with elemental fluorine in the presence of an elemental halogen other than fluorine. or in the presence of an interhalogen compound consisting of two different halogens.
A method of preparing a heterocyclic organic compound having at least one fluorine substitute on the heterocyclic ring, the method comprising reacting a heterocyclic compound with elemental fluorine in the presence of one or more of I.sub.2, Br.sub.2, Cl.sub.2, or an interhalogen compound consisting of two different halogens, wherein the heterocyclic compound is a five or six membered substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic aromatic ring, and the reaction is performed in the presence of a base.
