Abstract
A two-photon absorbing chromophore of the formula E--Ar--E wherein the Ar core is selected from the group consisting of ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkyl groups having 8 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different, and wherein E is a moiety selected from the group consisting of ##STR2##

A two-photon absorbing chromophore of the formula
- E--Ar--E
- wherein the Ar core is ##STR5## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkyl groups having 8 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different, and wherein E is a moiety selected from the group consisting of ##STR6##
