Abstract
1,8-Naphthalimide derivatives of Formula (I) are useful as fluorescent dyes: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of branched alkyl groups containing 7-8 carbon atoms and alkyloxyalkyl groups containing 4 to 24 carbon atoms.
Claims31
A composition, which comprises a high boiling point organic solvent and a coloring component in an amount of from 15 to 70% (w/w), wherein the coloring component consists of one or more compounds represented by formula (I):
- ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of branched alkyl groups containing 7-8 carbon atoms and alkyloxyalkyl groups containing 4 to 24 carbon atoms.
A lubricant composition for a refrigerant, comprising an oil and a compound of formula (I):
- ##STR4## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of branched alkyl groups containing 7-8 carbon atoms and alkyloxyalkyl groups containing 4 to 24 carbon atoms.
A method of detecting leaks in a refrigerator, which comprises:
- operating a refrigerator containing a refrigerant composition comprising 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethylene, an oil, and a dye of formula (I):
- ##STR5## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of branched alkyl groups containing 7-8 carbon atoms and alkyloxyalkyl groups containing 4 to 24 carbon atoms;
- and
- detecting the location of refrigerator leaks by observance of the fluorescent response of the dye of formula (I) on the refrigerator.
