Abstract
Purified DNA encoding .alpha.(1,3)fucosyltransferase and the recombinant proteins expressed from such DNA are disclosed. The recombinant fucosyltransferase polypeptides are used to fucosylate proteins to produce therapeutics useful for the treatment of disease, e.g., an adverse immune reaction such as septiciemia or septic shock.
Claims12
A substantially pure .alpha..sub.1 -acid glycoprotein (AGP) or AGP fusion polypeptide which has been fucosylated using a cell expressing substantially pure DNA having a sequence substantially identical to the nucleotide sequence shown in FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:
- 1), wherein said polypeptide is capable of protecting a mammal against an LPS-induced adverse immune reaction.
A substantially pure AGP or AGP fusion polypeptide fucosylated in vitro using a fucosyltransferase having an amino acid sequence substantially identical to the sequence shown in FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:
- 2), wherein said polypeptide is capable of protecting a mammal against an LPS-induced adverse immune reaction.
