An anchoring system includes a simply-structured suture-like device which permits a fluid tube or similar medical article to be easily attached to the patient without the use of needles and without suturing anything to the patient. The anchoring device desirably includes two threads or filaments and two corresponding receptacles. The filaments include protuberances which cooperate with apertures of the receptacles to permit easy insertion of the distal ends of the filaments into the receptacles, but inhibit retraction of the filament distal ends from the receptacles. A health care provider simply wraps the filament around the fluid tube or threads the filament through a suture hole in the medical article, and then threads the distal end of the filament through the receptacle aperture until the filament holds the medical article tightly against an anchor pad of the anchoring system. The anchor pad in turn includes an adhesive bottom surface which can be attached to the patient's skin.
An anchoring system for securing a portion of a medical article to a body of a patient, said anchoring system comprising a base coupled to an adhesive pad, at least two filaments extending from said base, each filament including a proximal end attached to said base, a distal end and at least one protuberance positioned between said proximal end and said distal end of said filament, said filaments being spaced apart from one another on said base and at least two receptacles coupled to said base, each receptacle positioned on said base so as to cooperate with at least one of the filaments, each receptacle including at least one aperture which is sized and shaped to cooperate with the protuberance to initially receive the filament distal end and at least one protuberance and to thereafter inhibit retraction of the filament distal end and protuberance through the receptacle.
An anchoring system for securing a portion of an article to a support, said anchoring system comprising a base coupled to an adhesive bottom surface, an elongated thread having a proximal end fixed to said base and extending away from said base in a direction generally normal to said bottom surface and a distal end and a corresponding receptacle connected to said base at a position spaced from said thread, said receptacle configured to receive said distal end of said thread, said thread and said receptacle including at least one set of interengaging structures which permits insertion of the thread distal end into said receptacle while at the same time inhibiting retraction of the thread distal end from said receptacle.
An anchoring system for securing a portion of a medical article to a body of a patient, said anchoring system comprising a base coupled to an adhesive pad, at least two filaments extending from said base, each filament including a proximal end attached to said base, a distal end and at least one protuberance having a generally conical shape positioned between said proximal end and said distal end of said filament and spaced from said distal end of said filament, the distal portion of the filament increasing in diameter from a generally pointed end at the distal end of the filament toward said protuberances, said filaments being spaced apart from one another on said base, and at least two receptacles coupled to said base, each receptacle positioned on said base so as to cooperate with at least one of the filaments, each receptacle including at least one aperture which receives the distal end and at least one protuberance of a filament, the aperture having an hour-glass cross-sectional shape with a neck portion of the aperture located about at a midpoint of the aperture and cooperating with the protuberance to inhibit retraction of the filament distal end from the receptacle.
An anchoring system for securing a portion of a medical article to a body of a patient, said anchoring system comprising a base coupled to an adhesive pad, at least two filaments extending from said base, each filament including a proximal end attached to said base, a distal end and at least one protuberance positioned between said proximal end and said distal end of said filament, said filaments being spaced apart from one another on said base, and at least two receptacles coupled to said base, each receptacle positioned on said base so as to cooperate with at least one of the filaments, the filaments and receptacles being positioned on said base along a common axis, each receptacle including at least one aperture which receives the distal end and at least one protuberance of a filament, the aperture cooperating with the protuberance to inhibit retraction of the filament distal end from the receptacle.
