Abstract
A drum, stencil and ink holding member for a stencil printer are disclosed. The stencil is made up of a porous substrate and a thermoplastic resin film. The side of the substrate contacting the film has a surface roughness of 5 .mu.m Rz to 45 .mu.m Rz, preferably 5 .mu.m Rz to 35 .mu.m Rz or more preferably 5 .mu.m Rz to 25 .mu.m Rz.

A drum for inking a thermoplastic resin film stencil, said drum supporting an ink holding member including a stencil wrapping and ink supplying outer surface, wherein said outer surface has a surface roughness of at least 5 .mu.m Rz but less than 45 .mu.m Rz.
A stencil inking apparatus comprising a drum supporting an ink holding member on an outer periphery thereof for providing ink to a stencil wrapped on said ink holding member, said stencil including a thermoplastic resin film formed on a porous substrate, wherein the ink holding member and the porous substrate are in contact and provide a thickness which is at least 5 .mu.m, but smaller than 45 .mu.m, and which is measured as a sum of a surface roughness thickness of said ink holding member, as measured on a side thereof contacting said porous substrate, and a thickness of said porous substrate.
A stencil inking drum having an outer surface configured to wrap and supply ink to a stencil, said outer surface having a surface roughness of at least 5 .mu.m Rz, but less than 45 .mu.m Rz.
A drum for inking a stencil comprising an ink holding plurality of fibers forming an outer surface for wrapping and supplying ink to the stencil, wherein said fibers have a fiber diameter of at least 1 .mu.m, but smaller than 20 .mu.m, as measured at said outer drum surface.
A drum for inking a stencil comprising a plurality of ink holding members laminated in layers on said drum exterior and forming an outer surface on an outermost layer for wrapping and supplying ink to a thermoplastic resin film stencil, wherein said layers have interior bores which sequentially decrease in size from an innermost one of said layers to said outermost one of said layers, wherein at least said outermost one of said layers is made up of fibers that have a fiber diameter of at least 1 .mu.m, but smaller than 20 .mu.m, as measured at said outer surface.
A drum for inking a stencil, said drum supporting a single ink holding member formed as a layer of fibers, said layer having an outer layer surface configured for wrapping and supplying ink to a thermoplastic resin film stencil, said layer having interior bores which sequentially decrease in size along a direction from an inside layer surface toward said outer layer surface, wherein said fibers have a fiber diameter of at least 1 .mu.m, but smaller than 20 .mu.m, as measured at said outer surface.
A drum for inking a stencil, said drum supporting an ink holding member forming a stencil wrapping and ink supplying outer surface including fibers having a fiber diameter of at least 1 .mu.m, but smaller than 20 .mu.m, as measured at said outer surface.
