A fluorescent lamp comprises a plurality of metameric blends of lamp phosphors for converting ultraviolet radiation to visible illumination.

A fluorescent lamp comprising a metameric mixture of a plurality of blends of lamp phosphors for converting ultraviolet radiation to visible illumination, each of said blends of lamp phosphors having a different Spectral Power Distribution and substantially identical color coordinates, the color rendering index (CRI) of said metameric mixture being higher than the CRI of each of said blends of lamp phosphors.
