Abstract
Genomic DNA of cholesterol 7.alpha.-hydroxylase and a minigene are disclosed. The minigene is used for making a transgenic animal that produces functionally active cholesterol 7.alpha.-hydroxylase and functions as a disease model. A cholesterol 7.alpha.-hydroxylase promoter region and reporter gene construct is provided, as well as a transgenic animal that expresses the promoter/reporter gene.
Claims3
A method for screening a compound for its effect on non-truncated human CYP7 enzyme activity, comprising the steps of:
- (a) contacting catalytically active, truncated human CYP7 according to claim 1 with a compound;
- and
- (b) measuring the catalytic activity of the catalytically active, truncated human CYP7.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
