Abstract
The present invention relates to phytocassanes which are novel diterpene compounds exhibiting an antifungal activity against rice blast fungus, Pyricularia oryzae (Magnaporthe grisea) and rice sheath blight fungus, Rhizoctonia solani, and more specifically, it relates to phytocassanes A, B, C, D, and EL and a process for producing phytocassanes or momilactones, antifungal diterpene compounds, at a high yield.
Claims10
Compound that is phytoalexins from rice, having antifungal activity against rice blast fungus, Pyricularia oryzae and rice sheath blight fungus, Rhizoctonia solani, and having a cassane skeleton represented by the following general formula (I):
- ##STR5## (wherein R.sub.1 represents H and H or alpha-H and beta-OH;
- R.sub.2 represents alpha-H and beta-OH, H and H or O;
- and R.sub.3 represents O or alpha-H and beta-OH).
Phytocassane EL having an activity of deriving the formation of phytoalexins in rice plants and antifungal activity against blast, fungi, Pyricularia oryzae, sheath blight fungus, Rhizoctonia solani represented by the following structural formula (II):
- ##STR6##
