Abstract
An exhaust gas purifying catalyst capable of exhibiting excellent catalytic purifying activity in long term use under high temperatures exceeding 900.degree. C., the exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprising a heat-resistant oxide which is expressed by the following general formula: AMn.sub.x Al.sub.12-X O.sub.19 (where A represents an alkaline earth metal which can be substituted by an alkali metal and/or a rare earth element, and x represents an atomic ratio of 0.5 to 4) and a noble metal.

An exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprising a noble metal and a heat-resistant oxide expressed by the following formula:
- AMn.sub.x Al.sub.12-x O.sub.19
- where A represents an alkaline earth metal or a combination of (1) an alkaline earth metal and (2) an alkali metal and/or a rare earth element, and x represents an atomic ratio of 0.5 to 4.
