Abstract
A document processing apparatus includes an microprocessing unit, a main memory, an external memory, a cathode ray tube display, and input units (e.g., a pointing device and a keyboard). In this apparatus, graphic (e.g., an illustration) data, image (e.g., a photographic image) data, and character (e.g., a sentence) data for a frame formed on a sheet are controlled. Frame size data is also stored in the above memories. The microprocessing unit designates the size data or one of the graphic, image, and character data to be obtained.
Claims14
A display control method comprising the steps of:
- defining, with first defining and displaying means, a first frame and displaying the defined first frame on a display screen, wherein the size of the first frame is defined by size information;
- defining, with second defining and displaying means, a second frame and displaying the defined second frame at a position within the first frame, wherein the size of the second frame is defined by size information;
- storing the relative position of the second frame relative to the first frame in first storing means;
- changing, with changing means, the position at which the second frame is to be displayed, in response to inputting a character into the first frame, so as to change the position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- storing the relative position of the second frame with respect to the first frame as changed by said changing means in said changing step in second storing means;
- and
- displaying the first frame on the display screen and displaying the second frame on the display screen at the changed position stored in said second storing step by said second storing means using the size information.
A display method comprising the steps of:
- defining, with first defining and displaying means, a first frame and displaying the defined first frame on a display screen, wherein the size of the first frame is defined by size information;
- defining, with second defining and displacing means, a second frame and displaying the defined second frame at a position within the first frame, wherein the size of the second frame is defined by size information;
- storing the relative position of the second frame relative to the first frame with first storing means;
- changing, with changing means, the position at which the second frame is to be displayed, in response to inputting a character into the first frame, so as to change the position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- storing the relative position of the second frame with respect to the first frame as changed in said changing step with second storing means;
- displaying, with first and second frame displaying means, the first frame on the display screen and displaying the second frame on the display screen at the changed position stored in said second storing step with said second storing means using the size information;
- and
- reading information to be displayed in the first and second frames from a memory.
A display control apparatus comprising:
- first defining and displaying means for defining a first frame and displaying the defined first frame on a display screen, wherein the size of the first frame is defined by size information;
- second defining and displaying means for defining a second frame and displaying the defined second frame on the display screen at a position within the first frame, wherein the size of the second frame is defined by size information;
- first storing means for storing the relative position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- changing means for changing the position at which the second frame is to be displayed, in response to inputting a character into the first frame, so as to change the position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- second storing means for storing the relative position of the second frame with respect to the first frame as changed in said changing step;
- and
- first and second frame displaying means for displaying the first frame on the display screen and displaying the second frame on the display screen at the changed position stored by said second storing means using the size information.
A display apparatus comprising:
- first defining and displaying means for defining a first frame and displaying the defined first frame on a display screen, wherein the size of the first frame is defined by size information;
- second defining and displaying means for defining a second frame and displaying the defined second frame on the display screen at a position within the first frame, wherein the size of the second frame is defined by size information;
- first storing means for storing the relative position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- changing means for changing the position at which the second frame is to be displayed, in response to inputting a character into the first frame, so as to change the position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- second storing means for storing the relative position of the second frame with respect to the first frame as changed by said changing means;
- first and second frame displaying means for displaying the first frame on the display screen and displaying the second frame on the display screen at the changed position stored by said second storing means using the size information;
- and
- reading means for reading information to be displayed in the first and second frames from a memory.
An article of manufacture comprising a computer usable medium having computer readable program code means embodied therein for controlling the display on a computer, the computer readable program code means in the article of manufacture comprising:
- first computer readable program code means for causing the computer to define, with first defining and displaying means, a first frame and for causing the computer to display, with the first defining and displaying means, the defined first frame on a display screen, wherein the size of the first frame is defined by size information;
- second computer readable program code means for causing the computer to define, with second defining and displaying means, a second frame and for causing the computer to display, with the second defining and displaying means, the defined second frame at a position within the first frame, wherein the size of the second frame is defined by size information;
- third computer readable program code means causing the computer to store the relative position of the second frame relative to the first frame in first storing means;
- fourth computer readable program code means for causing the computer to change, with changing means, the position at which the second frame is to be displayed, in response to inputting a character into the first frame, so as to change the position of the second frame relative to the first frame;
- fifth computer readable program code means for causing the computer to store the relative position of the second frame with respect to the first frame as changed by the changing means in second storing means;
- and
- sixth computer readable program code means for causing the computer to display the first frame on the display screen and to display the second frame on the display screen at the changed position stored in said second storing means using the size information.
An article of manufacture comprising a computer usable medium having computer readable program code means embodied therein for controlling the display on a computer, the computer readable program code means in the article of manufacture comprising:
- first computer readable program code means for causing the computer to define, with first defining and displaying means, a first frame and to display, with the first defining and displaying means, the defined first frame on a display screen, wherein the size of the first frame is defined by size information;
