Liquid crystal display and a manufacturing method thereof

A portion of a liquid crystal display device, comprising:

• a transparent substrate;
• a plurality of scanning signal lines comprising pairs of first and second scanning signal lines alternately arranged at predetermined intervals on the surface of said transparent substrate;
• a plurality of striped-shaped display signal lines, each insulated from and crossing said scanning signal lines above said transparent substrate to thereby define a plurality of pixel regions on said transparent substrate;
• a pixel electrode disposed in each of said pixel regions;
• a thin film transistor disposed in each of said pixel regions and having a gate electrode connected to one of said scanning signal lines, a drain electrode connected to one of said striped-shaped display signal lines and a source electrode connected to said pixel electrode;
• and
• a first electrode of a capacitor disposed so that at least a portion of said first electrode of said capacitor overlaps said pixel electrode, said first electrode of said capacitor being connected to both of said first and second scanning signal lines of one of said scanning signal lines.

A liquid crystal display comprising:

• a front glass substrate having inner and outer surfaces;
• a rear glass substrate having inner and outer surfaces, disposed parallel to said front glass substrate and separated therefrom by a predetermined distance, said inner surfaces of each of said front and rear glass substrates facing each other;
• a plurality of scanning signal lines and display signal lines in a matrix configuration disposed on the surface of said rear glass substrate, thereby defining a matrix of pixel regions, each pixel region containing an liquidcrystal display area;
• a pixel electrode disposed in each pixel region and covering said liquid crystal display area;
• a switching device disposed in each pixel region and connected with a corresponding one of said display signal lines and one of said pixel electrodes;
• and
• a first electrode disposed in each pixel region to substantially surround one of said pixel electrodes, said first electrode connected to one of said scanning signal lines;
• redundancy connecting conductors electrically connecting two adjacent first electrodes;
• a light-shielding layer matrix disposed on said inner surface of said front glass substrate for defining a light-transmitting aperture area;
• a color filter layer disposed on said inner surface of said front glass substrate, including said light transmitting area;
• a transparent electrode formed on said color filter layer;
• and
• a liquid crystal layer injected between said front and rear glass substrates.

A liquid crystal display device, comprising:

• a front glass substrate having inner and outer surfaces;
• a rear glass substrate having inner and outer surfaces, disposed parallel to said front glass substrate and separated therefrom by a predetermined distance, said inner surface of said rear glass substrate facing said inner surface of said front glass substrate;
• a plurality of scanning signal lines comprising pairs of first and second scanning signal lines alternately arranged at predetermined intervals on said transparent substrate;
• a plurality of striped-shaped display signal lines, each insulated from and crossing said scanning signal lines above the surface of said rear glass substrate to thereby define a plurality of pixel regions on said rear glass substrate;
• a pixel electrode disposed in each of said pixel regions;
• a thin film transistor disposed in each of said pixel regions and having a gate electrode connected to one of said scanning signal lines, a drain electrode connected to one of said display signal lines and a source electrode connected to said pixel electrode;
• and
• a first electrode of a capacitor disposed so that at least a portion of said first electrode of said capacitor overlaps said pixel electrode, said first electrode of said capacitor being connected to both of said first and second scanning signal lines of said one of said scanning signal lines;
• a light-shielding layer matrix disposed on said inner surface of said front glass substrate for defining a light transmitting aperture area;
• a color filter layer disposed on said inner surface of said front glass substrate, including said light transmitting area;
• a transparent crystal electrode formed on said color filter layer;
• and
• a liquid crystal layer injected between said front glass substrate and said rear glass substrate.

A method for manufacturing a portion of a liquid crystal display comprising the steps of:

• forming a first opaque conductive layer on a transparent substrate;
• etching a plurality of scanning signal lines, including gate electrodes, first electrodes connected to said scanning signal lines and redundancy connecting conductors connecting adjacent first electrodes from said first opaque conductive layer;
• forming a first insulator layer over said scanning signal lines, said first electrodes, said redundancy connecting conductors and exposed regions of said transparent substrate;
• patterning a semiconductor layer to leave a plurality of channel regions;
• patterning a transparent conductive layer to form a pixel electrode;
• and
• forming a plurality of display signal lines, source electrodes and drain electrodes, said plurality of display signal lines patterned over said insulator layer and said semiconductor layer to form a plurality of pixel regions bounded by said scanning signal lines and said display signal lines, and said source and drain electrodes formed over ends of each channel region to obtain a plurality of thin film transistors, one thin film transistor within each pixel region.

A method for manufacturing a portion of a liquid crystal display comprising the steps of:

• forming a first metal layer on a transparent substrate;
• patterning said first metal layer to form a plurality of scanning signal lines including paired first and second scanning signal lines and first electrodes;
• forming an insulating layer and a semiconductor layer over said paired first and second scanning signal lines, first electrodes and exposed regions of said transparent substrate;
• patterning said semiconductor layer to obtain a plurality of channel regions;
• patterning a transparent conductive layer to form a pixel electrode;
• and
• forming a plurality of display signal lines, source electrodes and drain electrodes, said plurality of display signal lines patterned over said insulator layer and said semiconductor layer to form a plurality of pixel regions bounded by said first and second scanning signal lines and said display signal lines, and said source and drain electrodes formed over ends of each channel region to obtain a plurality of thin film transistors, one thin film transistor within each pixel region.

A portion of a liquid crystal display device, comprising:

• a transparent substrate;
• a plurality of scanning signal lines comprising pairs of first and second scanning signal lines alternately arranged at predetermined intervals on the surface of said transparent substrate;
• a plurality of display signal lines, each insulated from and crossing said scanning signal lines above said transparent substrate to thereby define a plurality of pixel regions on said transparent substrate;
• a pixel electrode disposed in each of said pixel regions;
• a thin-film transistor disposed in each of said pixel regions and having a gate electrode connected to one of said scanning signal lines, a drain electrode connected to one of said display signal lines and a source electrode connected to said pixel electrode;
• and
• a first electrode disposed in each of said pixel regions to substantially surround said pixel electrode, said first electrode being connected to both of said first and second scanning signal lines of said one of said scanning signal lines.

A liquid crystal display device, comprising:

• a front glass substrate having inner and outer surfaces;
• a rear glass substrate having inner and outer surfaces, disposed parallel to said front glass substrate and separated therefrom by a predetermined distance, said inner surface of said rear glass substrate facing said inner surface of said front glass substrate;
• a plurality of scanning signal lines comprising pairs of first and second scanning signal lines alternately arranged at predetermined intervals above said transparent substrate;
• a plurality of display signal lines, each insulated from and crossing said scanning signal lines on the surface of said rear glass substrate to thereby define a plurality of pixel regions on said rear glass substrate;
• a pixel electrode disposed in each of said pixel regions;
• a thin-film transistor disposed in each of said pixel regions and having a gate electrode connected to one of said scanning signal lines, a drain electrode connected to one of said display signal lines and a source electrode connected to said pixel electrode;
• a first electrode disposed in each of said pixel regions to substantially surround said pixel electrode, said first electrode being connected to both of said first and second scanning signal lines of said one of said scanning signal lines;
• a light-shielding layer matrix disposed on said inner surface of said front glass substrate for defining a light transmitting aperture area;
• a color filter layer disposed on said inner surface of said front glass substrate, including said light transmitting area;
• a transparent crystal electrode formed on said color filter layer;
• and
• a liquid crystal layer injected between said front glass substrate and said rear glass substrate.
