Abstract
A compound having the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 independently are OH, OOC--R.sub.3 or O--R.sub.3, and R.sub.3 is an unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl group. The compound is useful as a natriuretic and anti-hypertensive agent.
Claims5
A compound having the formula ##STR8## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 independently are OH, OOC--R.sub.3 or O--R.sub.3, and
- R.sub.3 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted with an alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl, or halogen group, with the provisos
- that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not both OOC--CH.sub.3, and
- that when R.sub.1 is OOC--CH.sub.3, R.sub.2 is not OH.
A method of treating a mammal suffering from hypertension, congestive heart failure, renal disease, said method comprising the step of orally or parenterally administering to said mammal a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a therapeutically effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR9## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 independently are OH, OOC--R.sub.3 or O--R.sub.3, and
- R.sub.3 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted with an alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl, or halogen group with the provisos
- that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not both OOC--CH.sub.3, and
- that when R.sub.1 is OOC--CH.sub.3, R.sub.2 is not OH.
A method of stimulating sodium excretion in the urine of a mammal suffering from an edematous condition, said method comprising the step of orally or parenterally administering to said mammal a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a therapeutically effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR10## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 independently are OH, OOC--R.sub.3 or O--R.sub.3, and
- R.sub.3 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted with an alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl, or halogen group with the provisos
- that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not both OOC--CH.sub.3, and
- that when R.sub.1 is OOC--CH.sub.3, R.sub.2 is not OH.
