Abstract
Isolated polypeptides useful in ameliorating GAD-associated autoimmune disease as well as diagnostic and therapeutic methods of using the peptides are disclosed.

A method for detecting autoantibody to glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) in a patient specimen which comprises contacting the specimen with a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
