Abstract
A complex and method for making same for use as a diagnostic or therapeutic pharmaceutical includes a ligand comprising at least one hydroxyalkyl phosphine donor group bound to a gold atom to form a gold-ligand complex that is stable in aqueous solutions containing oxygen, serum and other body fluids.
Claims16
A complex for use as a diagnostic or therapeutic pharmaceutical, said complex comprising:
- a ligand comprising at least one hydroxyalkyl phosphine donor group bound to a gold atom to form a gold-ligand complex that is stable in aqueous solutions containing oxygen, serum and other body fluids, wherein said gold atom is an isotope selected from the group including .gamma. and .beta. emitting isotopes.
A method for delivering a radiation dose to cancer tissue or arthritic site;
- said method comprising the steps of:
- administering an effective amount of a complex comprising a ligand comprising at least one hydroxyalkyl phosphine group bound to a gold atom to form a gold-ligand complex that is stable in aqueous solutions containing oxygen, serum and other body fluids, wherein said gold atom is a isotope selected from the group including .gamma. and .beta. emitting isotopes.
