Abstract
The invention pertains to a new lead-free glass composition with improved properties, a glass frit of this composition and its use for the production of glass-enamel, particularly for architectural glass. The glass composition contains in mole %: ______________________________________ Na.sub.2 O 10-15 K.sub.2 O 0.1-2 SiO.sub.2 40-50 B.sub.2 O.sub.3 8-12 TiO.sub.2 4-7 Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.1-3 ZnO 13-17 F 1-5 ______________________________________ and less than 0.5 weight % each of the oxides of the series PbO, CdO, P.sub.2 O.sub.5, and alkaline earth metal oxides. Use of a dye preparation containing the glass frit at 600.degree. to 650.degree. C. results in bakeable glazed, crack-free, acid and base resistant enamel layers.
Claims11
A dye preparation which comprises a glass frit wherein the composition of the glass contains, in mole %, the following essential components:
- ______________________________________ Na.sub.2 O 10-15 K.sub.2 O 0.1-2 Li.sub.2 O less than 0.5 SiO.sub.2 40-50 B.sub.2 O.sub.3 8-12 TiO.sub.2 4-7 Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.1-3 ZnO 13-17 F 1-5 ______________________________________
- said composition having less than 0.5 weight % oxides of the series PbO, CdO, P.sub.2 O.sub.5 and alkaline earth metal oxides, and at least one member of the group consisting of an inorganic ceramic dye pigment and a dye frit.
In a process for the production of a glass frit which comprises subjecting the raw materials for glass in amounts corresponding to the desired molar composition of the glass to melting at 1000.degree. to 1200.degree. C., quenching the melt to obtain a friable material and grinding the friable material, the improvement wherein the glass composition contains, in mole % the following essential components:
- ______________________________________ Na.sub.2 O 10-15 K.sub.2 O 0.1-2 Li.sub.2 O less than 0.5 SiO.sub.2 40-50 B.sub.2 O.sub.3 8-12 TiO.sub.2 4-7 Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 0.1-3 ZnO 13-17 F 1-5 ______________________________________
- and the raw materials which are subjected to melting contain the fluorine-containing raw materials in multiple excess compared to the fluorine content in the glass composition.
