Abstract
The present invention relates generally to a method and apparatus for oxidizing an organic liquid, and, more particularly, to a method and apparatus for improving the combustion characteristics of petroleum-based hydrocarbon liquids. The present invention further relates to a method and apparatus for producing an oxidizing gas which comprises substantial amounts of O.sub.3.sup.-2.
Claims18
A process for converting an organic liquid comprising a mixture of higher molecular weight hydrocarbons into a mixture comprising lower molecular weight hydrocarbons, said method comprising:
- (a) generating an oxidizing gas which comprises O.sub.3.sup.-2, and
- (b) reacting the organic liquid with the oxidizing gas, thereby converting the mixture of higher molecular weight hydrocarbons into a mixture comprising lower molecular weight hydrocarbons.
