Abstract
This invention provides a recombinant raccoon poxvirus that express the envelope protein of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. The recombinant viruses are useful as vaccines, either alone or in combination with carries and adjuvants.
Claims20
A recombinant raccoon poxvirus having at least one internal gene comprising a DNA sequence encoding the envelope protein of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or immunogenic fragments therefrom.
A vaccine for use in cats comprising:
- a recombinant raccoon poxvirus having at least one internal gene comprising a DNA sequence encoding envelope protein of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or immunogenic fragments therefrom, and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.
A recombinant raccoon poxvirus having at least one internal gene comprising a DNA sequence encoding the gag protein of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or immunogenic fragments therefrom;
- said recombinant raccoon pox virus having the property of preventing a CD4:CD8 lymphocyte radio change associate with FIV infection.
A vaccine for use in cats comprising:
- a recombinant raccoon poxvirus having at least one internal gene comprising a DNA sequence encoding envelope protein of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or immunogenic fragments therefrom, and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent;
- said vaccine having the property of preventing a CD4:CD8 lymphocyte ratio change associated with FIV infection.
