Abstract
In an optical disk recording medium having grooves and lands formed on a substrate and information recording areas formed in association with both the groove and the land, prepits are disposed on a virtual extension of the boundary between a groove and a land, the prepits being disposed to satisfy such requirements that the prepits are disposed on both sides of a virtual extension of the center line of a groove, that the prepits are disposed on both sides of a virtual extension of the center line of a land, that the prepits do not exist on both sides of a position on the center line of the groove, and that the prepits do not exist on both sides of a position on the center line of the land.
Claims31
An optical disk recording medium comprising:
- a substrate in the form of a substantially circular disk;
- grooves and lands alternately formed on said substrate in a radial direction, said grooves and said lands both serving as recording tracks, said recording tracks being divided into recording units in the circumferential direction, each recording unit having an address area devoid of said groove;
- and
- first address information and second address information being provided in said address area of each recording unit, said first address information being formed on one side of a center line of one track so as to be shared with an adjacent track adjacent the one side of the center line of said one track, said second address information being formed on an other side of the center line of said one track so as to be shared with an adjacent track adjacent the other side of the center line of said one track, said first address information and said second address information not existing at opposing positions on both sides of the center line of said one track.
An optical recording medium comprising:
- a substrate in the form of a substantially circular disk;
- grooves and lands alternately formed on said substrate in a radial direction;
- information recording areas formed in association with both said grooves and said lands;
- and
- address information disposed on a virtual extension of the boundary between at least one groove and at least one land, said address information being disposed to satisfy all of the following requirements:
- (i) said address information include first and second indicia provided on both sides of an extension of a center line of one groove,
- (ii) said address information include third indicia and said first indicia provided on both sides of an extension of a center line of one land adjacent one side of said one groove,
- (iii) said first and second indicia do not exist at opposing positions on both sides of the extension of the center line of said one groove, and
- (iv) said first and third indicia do not exist at opposing positions on both sides of an extension of the center line of said one land.
An optical disk recording medium comprising:
- a substrate in the form of a substantially circular disk;
- grooves and lands alternately formed on said substrate in a radial direction, said grooves and said lands both serving as recording tracks, said recording tracks being divided into recording units in the circumferential direction, each recording unit having an address area devoid of said grooves;
- and
- first address information and second address information being provided in said address area of each recording unit, said first address information being formed on a first boundary between one track and an adjacent first track on one side of said one track, said second address information being formed on a second boundary between said one track and an adjacent second track on an other side of said one track, said first address information and said second address information not existing at opposing positions on both said first and second boundaries of said one track.
An optical disk recording medium comprising:
- a substrate in the form of a substantially circular disk;
- grooves and lands alternately formed on said substrate in a radial direction, said grooves and said lands both serving as recording tracks, said recording tracks being divided into recording units in the circumferential direction, each recording unit having an address area devoid of said grooves, said address area extending across a plurality of said recording tracks in the radial direction of said optical disk recording medium;
- and
- at least a first address mark and at least a second address mark being provided in said address area of each recording unit, said first address mark being formed on a first boundary between one track and an adjacent first track on one side of said one track disposed radially outwardly of said one track, said second address mark being formed on a second boundary between said one track and an adjacent second track on an other side of said one track disposed radially inwardly of said one track, said first address mark and said second address mark not existing at opposing positions on said first and second boundaries of said one track, said one track being one of a groove track and a land track, and when said one track is a groove track, said adjacent first and second tracks disposed radially outwardly and radially inwardly of said groove track are land tracks, and when said one track is a land track, said adjacent first and second tracks disposed radially outwardly and radially inwardly of said land track are groove tracks.
