Abstract
Peptides and antibodies which will inhibit the reaction between the RGD tripeptide of FHA and the integrin receptors of endothelial cells and their utility as therapeutic agents and a method of increasing the permeability of the blood-brain barrier using an antibody to the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) region of filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) are described.
Claims9
A method for increasing the permeability of the blood-brain barrier of a host to a molecule present in the blood stream of the host comprising administering to said host an effective amount of an antibody which is immunoreactive with the Arg-Gly-Asp region of filamentous hemagglutinin under conditions whereby said antibody binds to brain blood vessel endothelial cells thereby increasing the permeability of the blood-brain barrier to said molecule.
