Abstract
The present invention relates to benzothioxanthene dyes of the formula I, ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. M.sup..sym. or SO.sub.2 NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another are hydrogen, SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. M.sup..sym. or SO.sub.2 NR.sup.4 R.sup.5 and X, Y, n, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and M.sup..sym. are as defined in claim 1, to their preparation and to their use, especially in inks and recording liquids.
Claims15
A benzothioxanthene dye of the formula I ##STR12## in which R.sup.1 is SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. M.sup..sym. or SO.sub.2 NR.sup.4 R.sup.5 ;
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another are hydrogen, SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. M.sup..sym. or SO.sub.2 NR.sup.4 R.sup.5 ;
- R.sup.4 is hydrogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.22)-alkyl, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.7)-cycloalkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, aryl-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, hydroxy-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl or carboxy-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl;
- R.sup.5 is hydrogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.22)-alkyl, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.7)-cycloalkyl, aryl-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, hydroxy-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl, dihydroxy-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl, carboxy-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl, dicarboxy-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, (amino)-(carboxy)-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, sulfo-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, amino-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkylamino-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl, (di-((C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl) amino)-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)-alkyl or the residue of an amino acid which is formally obtained by removing the amino group from the amino acid molecule,
- or R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a 5- to 7-membered heterocyclic ring;
- M.sup..sym. is a cation;
- X is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine;
- Y is hydrogen, chlorine, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkyl or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkoxy;
- and
- n is 0, 1 or 2.
