Abstract
The invention provides deoxygossylic compounds having useful biological activities, and methods for the synthesis of these and related compounds. The invention further provides valuable intermediates for the synthesis of the compounds, and pharmaceutical compositions containing biologically active compounds according to the invention.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR5## wherein R and R' are independently H or substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl;
- R.sub.1 is ##STR6## and n is 2.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR9## wherein R and R' are independently H or substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl.
A dimer of the formula:
- ##STR25## wherein R and R' are independently H or substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl.
