Abstract
A process for preparing acetoacetates of the general formula: ##STR1## They are prepared by the addition of diketene onto an alcohol of the general formula: HO--R.sup.1 --Y II and further reaction of the adduct with a compound of the general formula: ##STR2##
Claims9
A process for preparing an acetoacetate of the formula:
- ##STR8## wherein R is hydrogen or methyl, R.sup.1 is straight-chain or branched alkylene having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms and X is --O-- or --NR.sup.2, wherein R.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, comprising converting an alcohol of the formula:
- HO--R.sup.1 --Y II
- wherein R.sup.1 is as defined above and Y is --OH or --NHR.sup.2, wherein R.sup.2 is as defined above, by means of diketene into an adduct of the formula:
- ##STR9## wherein R.sup.1 and X are as defined above, and finally converting said adduct by means of a compound of the formula:
- ##STR10## wherein R is as defined above and Z is ##STR11## or ##STR12## , wherein R is as defined above, into the end product.
