Abstract
The present invention generally relates to methods for treating a host by implanting genetically unrelated cells in the host. More particularly, the present invention provides human fetal neuro-derived cell lines, and methods of treating a host by implantation of these immortalized human fetal neuro-derived cells into the host.
Claims23
A non tumorigenic and non inflammatory immortalized human neuro-glial cell line comprising a heterologous nucleic acid sequence which encodes a biologically active peptide, wherein said cell line is capable of 1) expressing said heterologous nucleic acid sequence and 2) inducing neuro migration or neurite extension in a mammal.
A composition for promoting neurite outgrowth and survival comprising an immortalized human fetal neuro-glial cell line in an effective amount for promoting neurite outgrowth and survival in a pharmaceutically acceptable character.
