Abstract
The invention relates to difluorovinyl ethers of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R, A, X and m are as defined in claim 1, and to the use of these compounds as components of liquid-crystalline media, and to liquid-crystal and electro-optical display elements which contain the novel liquid-crystalline media.
Claims6
A difluorovinyl ether of the formula I ##STR11## in which R is alkyl or alkenyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, in each of which one or more CH.sub.2 groups may be replaced by --O--, --CF.sub.2 -- or --CH.dbd.CH--, a terminal CH.sub.3 -- group may be replaced by CF.sub.3- --, a terminal CH.sub.2 --CH-- group may be replaced by CH.sub.2 .dbd.CH-- or CH.sub.2 .dbd.CF--, and one or two CH groups may be replaced by CF in such a way that two oxygen atoms are not linked to one another,
- the ring A is 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-cyclohexenylene or 1,4-phenylene, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by 1 or 2 F atoms,
- each X is H or F, and
- m is 0 or 1.
