Abstract
A modular storage and support assembly uses a platform system that includes vertically disposed support posts. The support post has an extended tubular body and a plurality of symmetrically spaced, radially extending flanges running the length of the tubular body. Each flange has a first portion extending radially from the post and a second portion at the terminal end of the first portion. A slot is defined between each pair of adjacent flanges for receiving vertical panels or other inserts. A utility cabinet can be swingably secured to each lateral side of the assembly.
Claims29
A utility cabinet, comprising:
- a rear panel;
- first and second side panels secured to opposite ends of said rear panel to form a three-sided enclosure with an open front side, said side panels having molded interior surfaces, with each interior surface having a configured section including an arcuate slot and a front notch;
- and
- a reversible bin disposed in the open front side of said enclosure and supported by said first and second side panels, said bin including a first pair of pins and a second pair of pins for engaging with said molded sections of said first and second side panels, wherein in a first orientation said first pair of pins are engaged in the notches and said second pair of pins are engaged in the arcuate slots, and in a second orientation said first pair of pins are engaged in the arcuate slots and said second pair of pins are in the notches.
A structure comprising:
- a plurality of support posts, each support post including an elongated tubular post and a plurality of spaced flanges extending radially from said tubular post and running in a longitudinal direction along said tubular post, with each said flange having a first portion extending radially from said tubular post and a second portion extending from a terminal end of said first portion, and wherein each adjacent pair of flanges defines an elongated slot;
- a plurality of panels secured between said support posts, wherein each panel includes first and second lateral ends formed to be received in an elongated slot in each said support post;
- bottom platform means for supporting said support posts and a top platform secured to said support posts;
- first and second exterior side panels secured between said support posts;
- a cabinet secured to said first exterior side panel, said cabinet including a rear panel and first and second side panels secured to opposite ends of said rear panel to form a three-sided enclosure with an open front side;
- and
- hinge means for swingably mounting said cabinet to said first exterior side panel such that said cabinet can swing between a swing out position substantially flush with a front side of the structure and a home position overlying and face-to-face with said first exterior side panel of the structure.
A structure with a swingable cabinet, comprising:
- said structure having a top portion, a bottom portion, and a pair of side panels secured between said top portion and bottom portion;
- said cabinet secured to said structure, said cabinet including a rear panel and first and second lateral panels secured to opposite ends of said rear panel;
- and
- hinge means for swingably mounting said cabinet to said structure such that said cabinet can swing between a swing out position substantially flush with a front side of said structure and a home position overlying and face-to-face with one of said side panels of said structure.
A structure with a swingable cabinet, comprising:
- said structure having a top portion, a bottom portion, and a pair of side panels secured between said top portion and bottom portion;
- said cabinet secured to said structure, said cabinet including a rear portion and first and second sides;
- and
- a hinge for swingably mounting said cabinet to said structure, said cabinet being swingable between a swing out position and a home position, with said cabinet overlying and face-to-face with one of said side panels of said structure in the home position.
