## Abstract

The bag includes a selected volume of gas having a selected volume of dead space. The dead space being provided to accommodate expansion of the gas in the event of atmospheric and temperature changes. The dead space is within a range of 9% to 9.5% of the combined volume of the bag. The selected volume of air is sufficient such that complete drainage of an ink supply line to the printhead is allowed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An ink source for an ink delivery system for a printer having a print head comprising:
a flexible bag having a selected combined individual volume of ink and individual volume of gas therein, said selected individual volume of gas including a selected volume of dead space for accommodating expansion of said gas and ink in the event of atmospheric and temperature changes, said selected volume of said dead space being 9-9.5% of said combined volume of said bag.

### Claim 2

An ink source for an ink delivery system for a printer having a print head coupled to a flexible bag by at least one ink supply line comprising:
a flexible bag having a selected combined individual volume of ink and individual volume of gas therein, said selected individual volume of gas including a selected volume of air space for allowing complete drainage of said ink supply line and for preventing negative pressure upon such drainage.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The ink source of claim 2 wherein said selected volume of said air space is 4-5% of said combined volume of said bag.
