## Abstract

This invention relates to the novel compounds of Formula (I) and pharmaceutical compositions containing same, to methods of treating, preventing or ameliorating cancer and other proliferative diseases in a subject in need of such treatment comprising administering a compound of Formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and prodrugs thereof. ##STR1##

A compound which is trans-retinoyloxymethyl butyrate.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A pharmaceutical composition useful for the treatment of cancer and other proliferative diseases comprising a therapeutically-effective amount of a compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically-effective carrier of diluent.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 wherein said disorder is a leukemia.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A pharmaceutical composition useful as a differentiating agent or an anti-proliferation agent comprising a therapeutically-effective amount of a compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically-effective carrier or diluent.
