## Abstract

This invention relates to a liquid crystal composition comprising a water insoluble organic compound, an ethoxylated nonionic surfactant, an alkyl polyglucoside surfactant, an ethoxylated alkyl ether sulfate surfactant, a cosurfactant and water.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A liquid crystal detergent composition which comprises by weight:
(a) about 1% to about 30% of an ethoxylated nonionic surfactant containing ethylene oxide groups;
(b) about 0.1% to about 16% of an alkyl polyglucoside surfactant;
(c) about 1% to about 20% of a water soluble salt of an ethoxylated C.sub.8-18 alkyl ether sulfate surfactant or sodium lauryl sulfate;
(d) about 0.1% to about 2% of an alcohol having the formula CnH2n+2-x(OH)x wherein x is 2 or 3 and n is a number from 2 to 5;
(e) about 0.1% to about 6% of a fatty alcohol having a single oxygen atom and a total of 14 to 20 carbon atoms;
(f) about 1% to about 30% of a water soluble glycol ether cosurfactant;
(g) about 0.6% to about 10% of a water insoluble organic compound selected from the group consisting of perfumes, essential oils and water insoluble hydrocarbons;
(h) 1% to 10% of a magnesium salt; and
(i) the balance being water, said liquid crystal detergent composition has a storage modulus measured at a temperature between 20.degree. C. to 40.degree. C., at a strain of 0.1% to 5% and a frequency of 10 radians/second of at least about one Pascal and is one phase at a temperature of 8.degree. C. to 43.degree. C.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1, wherein said nonionic surfactant is a condensation product of one mole of a higher fatty alcohol having about 9 to about 11 carbon atoms with 2 to 6 moles of said ethylene oxide groups.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The composition of claim 2 wherein said water soluble salt of said ethoxylated C.sub.8-18 alkyl ether sulfate surfactant has a cation selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium and ammonium.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The composition of claim 3 wherein said fatty alcohol is oleyl alcohol.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The composition of claim 3, wherein said water insoluble hydrocarbon is selected from the group consisting of d-linonene, alpha-terpineol, alpha-pinene, and beta pinene and mixtures thereof.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The composition of claim 3, wherein said cosurfactant is tripropylene glycol n-butyl ether.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

A process for treating materials soiled with lipophilic soil to loosen or remove it which comprises applying to the locus of such soft on such material a soil loosening or removing amount of a composition according to claim 1.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

A process according to claim 7 wherein the composition is applied as a pre-treatment to material soiled with hard-to-remove lipophilic soil at the locus thereof on the material, after which application the soil is removed by application of the same or a different detergent composition and water.
