## Abstract

A family of aza-ether based compounds including linear, multi-branched and aza-crown ethers is provided. When added to non-aqueous battery electrolytes, the family of aza-ether based compounds acts as neutral receptors to complex the anion moiety of the electrolyte salt thereby increasing the conductivity and the transference number of Li.sup.+ ion in alkali metal batteries.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A linear aza-ether having the formula ##STR10## wherein n.sub.1 =0-20, n.sub.2 =0-20, m=0-20 and n.sub.1 +n.sub.2 >0 and R is a substituent selected from the group consisting of CF.sub.3 SO.sub.2, CF.sub.3 CO, CN and SO.sub.2 CN.

### Claim 2
