## Abstract

Substantially purified beta (1,3) glucan extracts obtained from yeast cell walls, particularly finely ground, and including nutritional and dermatological applications, are disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for restoring skin, comprising:
applying topically to skin a composition comprising;
purified water-insoluble yeast extract beta (1,3) glucan, wherein said glucan has a particle size of about 1.0 microns or less.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said particle size is about 0.20 microns or less.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said composition comprises from about 0.01 w/w % to about 5 w/w % of said purified water-insoluble glucan.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein said restoring is selected from the group consisting of reducing irritation of the skin, reducing roughness of the skin, reducing skin pigmentation and reducing redness of the skin.
