## CPC

- B01J 2/30: using agents to prevent the granules sticking together; Rendering particulate materials free flowing in general, e.g. making them hydrophobic
- C05G 3/20: for preventing the fertilisers being reduced to powder; Anti-dusting additives
- C05G 3/30: Anti-agglomerating additives; Anti-solidifying additives
- B01J: CHEMICAL OR PHYSICAL PROCESSES, e.g. CATALYSIS OR COLLOID CHEMISTRY; THEIR RELEVANT APPARATUS
- C05G: MIXTURES OF FERTILISERS COVERED INDIVIDUALLY BY DIFFERENT SUBCLASSES OF CLASS C05; MIXTURES OF ONE OR MORE FERTILISERS WITH MATERIALS NOT HAVING A SPECIFIC FERTILISING ACTIVITY, e.g. PESTICIDES, SOIL-CONDITIONERS, WETTING AGENTS (organic fertilisers containing added bacterial cultures, mycelia, or the like C05F11/08; organic fertilisers containing plant vitamins or hormones C05F11/10); FERTILISERS CHARACTERISED BY THEIR FORM

## Abstract

Compositions for the treatment of granular fertilizers containing secondary C.sub.14 -C.sub.20 dialkyl monoamines or their mixture with primary monoamines which are also C.sub.14 -C.sub.20 have the advantage of limiting both the solidification and the secondary production of dust on storage. The process is particularly advantageous in the treatment of NPK-type fertilizers.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A granular ternary inorganic fertilizer comprising granules which are coated with a composition comprising secondary dialkyl monoamines and primary monoamines, wherein the composition comprises less than or equal to 75% by weight primary monoamines.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The granular fertilizer of claim 1 wherein said secondary dialkyl monoamine has the formula R.sub.2 NH wherein each R represents a C.sub.14 -C.sub.20 alkyl chain.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The granular fertilizer of claim 2 wherein R represents a hydrogenated tallow moiety.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The granular fertilizer of claim 3 wherein R represents a hydrogenated tallow saturated alkyl chain wherein 30% of the alkyl moieties are C.sub.16 and 65% of the alkyl moieties are C.sub.18.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The granular fertilizer of claim 1 wherein the primary and secondary monoamines in the composition are present in an amount between 5% and 100%.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The granular fertilizer of claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises one or more members selected from the group consisting of oils, waxes, inorganic powders, and anionic surfactants.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The granular fertilizer of claim 6 wherein the composition contains one or more fatty acids as an anionic component.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The granular fertilizer of claim 7 wherein said fatty acids are hydrogenated tallow fatty acids.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

A method for limiting both the tendency towards caking and the tendency towards giving off dust on storage in granular ternary inorganic fertilizers which comprises coating the fertilizer granules with a coating in accordance with claim 1.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The granular fertilizer of claim 1 wherein said fertilizer is a ternary inorganic fertilizer comprising nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium.
