## Abstract

A method of treating pulmonary inflammation in mammals, comprising administering an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable gallium compound and wherein said gallium is elected from the group consisting of gallium nitrate, gallium citrate, gallium chloride, gallium carbonate, gallium acetate, gallium tartrate, gallium oxalate, gallium oxide, gallium arsenide and hydrated gallium oxide.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating pulmonary inflammation in mammals, comprising administering an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable gallium compound selected from the group consisting of gallium nitrate, gallium citrate, gallium chloride, gallium carbonate, gallium acetate, gallium tartrate, gallium oxalate, gallium oxide, gallium arsenide, and hydrated gallium oxide.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said gallium compound is gallium nitrate.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said gallium compound is administered orally, intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or through inhalation.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said gallium compound is administered prophylactically prior to the onset of said pulmonary inflammation.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said gallium compound is administered after the onset of said pulmonary inflammation.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said mammal is a human.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said pulmonary inflammation is associated with the disease asthma.
