Abstract
Novel compounds useful as sequestrants as well as builders for detergent compositions and methods for their preparation are disclosed.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR16## wherein X is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sodium, potassium, lithium, ammonium, monoethanolammonium, diethanolammonium, triethanolammonium and mixtures thereof.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR17## wherein X is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sodium, potassium, lithium, ammonium, monoethanolammonium, diethanolammonium, triethanolammonium and mixtures thereof.
A compound of the formula:
