Abstract
Disclosed is a fluorophosphite compound of the formula ##STR1## This compound shows superior performance as a stabilizer in polymers, such as polypropylene, and polyvinyl chloride. Also disclosed is a process for making this compound.

A compound of the formula (I) ##STR5##
A product selected from the group consisting of ##STR6## ##STR7## and (c) mixtures of (a) and (b).
A process for producing a compound of the formula (I) ##STR8## comprising (a) reacting pentaerythritol with PX.sub.3 to form a compound of the formula (II) ##STR9## wherein X is Cl, Br or I, and (b) reacting the compound of formula (II) with a fluorinating agent to form said compound of formula (I).
