Abstract
Compositions containing certain sulfur containing compounds and methods of use in the treatment and prevention of cataracts is disclosed.
Claims6
A method of treating and/or delaying the onset of cataract in mammals comprising administering to the mammal a composition having a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula (I):
- ##STR13## wherein, R and R.sup.1 are independently H, C.sub.2-10 alkyl, (un)substituted aryl, (un)substituted heterocycle, or may form a ring of formula (II):
- ##STR14## wherein n is 1-3;
- R.sup.2 is ##STR15## Y is NH or CH.sub.2 ;
- R.sup.3 is H, C.sub.1-10 alkyl, (un)substituted aryl, (un)substituted heterocycle.

- ##STR20## wherein, R and R' are independently H, C.sub.2-10 alkyl, (un)substituted aryl, (un)substituted heterocycle, or may form a ring of formula (II):
- ##STR21## wherein n is 1-3;
- R.sup.2 is ##STR22## Y is NH or CH.sub.2 ;
- R.sup.3 is H, C.sub.1-10 alkyl, (un)substituted aryl, (un)substituted heterocycle.
