Abstract
Synergistic antimicrobial combinations comprising N-decyl-N-isononyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonium chloride and 2-(decylthio)ethanamine, or an acid salt therof, are disclosed. Methods for inhibiting microbial growth using these synergistic antimicrobial combinations are also disclosed.
Claims10
A synergistic antimicrobial combination comprising:
- a) N-decyl-N-isononyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonium chloride;
- and
- b) 2(decylthio)ethanamine, or an acid salt thereof, wherein the weight ratio of a) to b), on an active basis, ranges between about 7:1 and 1:7.
A method for inhibiting microbial growth in an aqueous system which comprises adding to said system an effective amount of a synergistic antimicrobial combination comprising:
- a) N-decyl-N-isononyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonium chloride;
- and
- b) 2(decylthio)ethanamine, or an acid salt thereof, wherein the weight ratio of a) to b), on an active basis, ranges between about 7:1 and 1:7.
A method of inhibiting microbial growth on an article of manufacture which comprises applying to said article an effective amount of a synergistic antimicrobial combination comprising:
- a) N-decyl-N-isononyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonium chloride;
- and
- b) 2(decylthio)ethanamine, or an acid salt thereof;
- wherein the weight ratio of a) to b), on an active basis, ranges between about 7:1 and 1:7.
