Abstract
The present invention relates to method for diagnosing an increased risk for breast or ovarian cancer by assaying for the presence of a mutant human progesterone receptor protein which contains a valine to leucine substitution at amino acid 660, wherein the presence of said mutant human progesterone receptor protein indicates an increased risk for breast or ovarian cancer.
Claims2
A method for diagnosing an increased risk for breast or ovarian cancer comprising the steps of:
- (A) obtaining, from a test subject, a test sample comprising human progesterone receptor protein;
- and
- (B) assaying, using an antibody which distinguishes between a mutant human progesterone receptor protein which contains a valine to leucine substitution at amino acid 660, and wild-type human progesterone receptor protein, for the presence of said mutant human progesterone receptor protein,
- wherein the presence of said mutant human progesterone receptor protein in said test sample indicates an increased risk for breast or ovarian cancer.
An antibody which has binding specificity for a mutant human progesterone receptor protein which contains a valine to leucine substitution at amino acid 660.
