Abstract
Novel fillers comprising combeite glass-ceramic are provided. hardenable restorative compositions comprising particulate combeite glass-ceramic provide improved biocompatibility in bone restorations. Hard, shaped bodies for orthopaedic, dental and other uses are also provided.
Claims40
A hardenable composition comprising
- a polymerizable matrix;
- and
- inorganic filler, at least 10 percent of said filler comprising combeite glass-ceramic having at least about 2 percent by volume of regions of combeite and irregular morphology.
A hardenable, biocompatible restorative composition comprising
- at least one acrylic monomer;
- a polymerization catalyst;
- and
- inorganic filler, at least 10 percent of said filler comprising combeite glass-ceramic having at least about 2 percent by volume of regions of combeite crystallites.
A method for the preparation of a hardenable composition comprising blending together at least one acrylic monomer, at least one polymerization catalyst and inorganic filler, at least 10 percent of said filler comprising combeite glass-ceramic having at least about 2 percent by volume of regions of combeite.
