Abstract
The treadmill has a tread base that is rotatably attached to and between a left upright and a right upright. The tread base is rotatable between a first position for performing exercises and an upright or storage position. A latching structure is provided to latch the tread base to the support structure. The treadmill also includes inclination structure for inclining the tread relative to the support surface when in the first position. The treadmill also includes rigid handles and in one configuration movable handles. The tread base also has a rigid undersurface or pan to fully enclose the underside of the tread base. A lift assist gas cylinder is also interconnected between the tread base and the feet attached to the uprights.
Claims20
A treadmill comprising:
- support structure configured to be freestanding and having feet means for positioning on a support surface and having an upright structure extending upwardly from said feet means;
- a tread base having a left side, a right side, a front, a rear and an endless belt positioned between said left side and said right side, said tread base being connected to said support structure to be reorientable about an axis of rotation between a first position in which said endless belt is positioned for operation by a user positioned thereon and a second position in which said rear of said tread base is positioned toward said upright structure, said tread base having mass and a center of gravity with said mass distributed and configured to position said center of gravity relative to and spaced from said axis of rotation to stably retain said tread base in said second position when said tread base is in said second position.
The treadmill of clam 14, further including a left rigid movable handle rotatably attached said left upright member and a right rigid movable handle rotatably attached to said right upright member.
A treadmill comprising:
- support structure configured to be freestanding and having feet means for positioning on a support surface and having an upright structure extending upwardly from said feet means;
- a tread base having a left side, a right side, a front, a rear and an endless belt positioned between said left side and said right side, said tread base being connected to said support structure to be reorientable about between a first position in which said endless belt is positioned for operation by a user positioned thereon and a second position in which said rear of said tread base is positioned toward said upright structure, said tread base having a front portion extending from said front toward said rear and said tread base being rotatably attached to said support structure to rotate about a base axis spaced from said front toward said rear, said front portion being spaced from said base axis and said front portion having mass to cantilever said tread base toward said second position.
A treadmill comprising:
- support structure configured to be freestanding and having feet means for positioning on a support surface and having a left upright and a right upright extending upwardly from said feet means;
- a tread base having a left side, a right side, a rear and an endless belt positioned between said left side and said right side, said tread base being connected to said support structure to be movable between a first position in which said endless belt is positioned for operation by a user positioned thereon and a second position in which said rear of said tread base is positioned toward said upright structure, said tread base having mass and a center of gravity with said mass distributed to position said center of gravity relative to and spaced from said axis of rotation to stably retain said tread base in said second position when said tread base is in said second position;
- a left rigid handle pivotally connected to said left upright and positioned for grasping by a user positioned on said endless belt with said tread base in said first position;
- a right rigid handle pivotally connected to said right upright and positioned for grasping by a user positioned on said endless belt with said tread base in said first position;
- and
- fixed handle structure connected to said support structure configured for grasping by a user positioned on said endless belt with said tread base in said first position.
