Abstract
Oligomers of particular usefulness in coatings are vinyl ether terminated polyester oligomers which include 4,8-bis(hydroxymethyl) tricyclo5.2.1.0.sup.2,6 !decane (BHTD).
Claims5
A vinyl ether terminated polyester oligomer consisting essentially of the reaction product of:
- (a) a polybasic ester having the structure ##STR19## wherein R.sub.7 is chosen from the group consisting of phenyl and an alkyl group containing from 1 to 6 carbons, X.sub.a, Y.sub.a, and Y.sub.b are radicals having a molecular weight of from 25 to about 500, each X.sub.a, each Y.sub.a, and Y.sub.b being independently selected from the group consisting of alkylene, arylene, aralkylene and cycloalkylene radicals, j and m are 0 and w is 1;
- (b) 4,8-bis(hydroxymethyl)tricyclo-5.2.1.0.sup.2,6 !-decane (BHTD);
- (c) a hydroxy monovinyl ether having the structure ##STR20## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are monovalent radicals selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl groups having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and X.sub.a is a divalent radical having a molecular weight in the range of from 25 to about 500 and is selected from the group consisting of alkylene, cycloalkylene, and alkylene ether radicals.
