Abstract
New 1-phenylmethyl enzimidazole piperazine derivatives of general formula ##STR1## are described wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 can be a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a short chain alkyl group, a nitro group, and a hydroxy group, and their addition salts with pharmaceutically acceptable acids. These compounds have pharmacological activity as serotonin 5HT.sub.3 receptor antagonists.
Claims4
A method of inhibiting vomiting by antagonizing the action at 5HT.sub.3 serotonin receptors which comprises administering an effective amount of a compound having the formula (I):
- ##STR7## wherein R.sup.1 is a halogen atom, a nitro group or a hydroxy group, and R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group or a hydroxy group, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
