Abstract
A humidifier is constructed from basic units that have a rigid part supporting a hydrophilic part. A lower portion of a basic unit is disposed in a water-filled canal, and the upper portion is exposed to air, especially heated air from a heater. One embodiment is adapted for placement over a floor outlet for heated air to evaporate water from the canal into the heated air to increase the humidity thereof. This embodiment may be above or just below floor level. Various forms of covers are associated with the units. The humidifier may take the form of an ornamental replica of a windmill having hydrophilic material on rotating blades that dip into a water reservoir, and having a fan inside that blows air onto such material.
Claims7
A humidifier comprising a base, including a container space for holding a supply of liquid water to be evaporated, an enclosure disposed on said base, hydrophilic material for absorbing liquid water and evaporating the absorbed water to the surrounding air, and means for conveying the liquid water from said container space to said hydrophilic material so that the liquid water from said container space can be absorbed by the hydrophilic material and evaporated to the surrounding air, said means for conveying the liquid water from said container space to said hydrophilic material comprising blades that are exterior of said enclosure, but rotatably mounted on said enclosure to be successively rotated through the container space, wherein the hydrophilic material is disposed on the blades, and including a fan that blows air from inside the enclosure onto the blades when the blades are out of the container space.
A humidifier comprising a base, including a container space for holding a supply of liquid water to be evaporated, an ornamental replica of an object that extends uprightly from said base, said ornamental replica comprising hydrophilic material for absorbing liquid water and evaporating the absorbed water to the surrounding air, and means for conveying the liquid water from said container space to said hydrophilic material so that the liquid water from said container space can be absorbed by the hydrophilic material and evaporated to the surrounding air, said means for conveying the liquid water from said container space to said hydrophilic material comprising means for periodically rotating the hydrophilic material through the container space, said ornamental replica of an object comprising a windmill having the hydrophilic material on blades that are successively rotated through the container space, and in which said windmill comprises a house, and including a fan that blows air from inside the house onto the blades when the blades are out of the container space.
