Abstract
The present invention relates to acetal derivatives of bicyclo2.2.1!hepta-2,5-diene-7-one (norbornadienone) which are capable of releasing carbon monoxide upon irradiation with ultraviolet light, and a method for producing carbon monoxide employing the same.
Claims16
A compound represented by Formula (I):
- ##STR4## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, are each selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, alkanoyloxymethoxy, wherein the alkanoyloxy moiety has from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, alkyl having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and alkoxy having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms;
- with the proviso that R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be combined to form a methylenedioxy (O--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --O) linkage, wherein n represents an integer of from 1 to 4;
